Youth Enjoying Summer Week
|
Held the first full week in August, the Youth Enjoying Summer Week is a big hit with middle schoolers in the Lower Dauphin School District.
For a minimal fee of $25 per student, children get to spend three days working on a high ropes course at Lower Dauphin Middle School. On Thursday, they spend the day at Little Buffalo State Park enjoying a picnic and culminating activities.
The camp is open to all children of the Lower Dauphin School District who are of middle school age. Scholarships are available to those who cannot afford to attend.
Students attending YES Week are exposed to team-building exercises as well as the confidence-building 'Challenge by Choice' component of the program.
In addition, the young people learn that it is possible to 'get high on life' rather than using alcohol or drugs.
