• Welcome to Mrs. Kopinetz's Class
     Reading

This year I am starting my 26th year of teaching middle school. As a reading specialist with both a special education and an elementary education background, I have taught various courses at the middle school level over my career. I enjoy helping my students grow, no matter what subject I am teaching. I am also a lifelong learner who is passionate about learning alongside my students. My experiences at Lower Dauphin have given me the opportunity to teach many courses from various reading courses to Science as well as Social Studies to English at all three middle school levels.

This year I will be teaching 6th grade Social Studies & 7th grade 21st Century Skills.
In 6th grade Social Studies, we begin exploring the economy and money management, including writing checks and receiving a paycheck as we prepare for our Biztown adventure to York, PA in December. We finish the second half of the year covering a variety of topics from Introduction to American History, Introduction to Geography, and exploring the North America culture while we learn about our neighbors both north and south of us, Canada as well as Mexico and the South American countries.

In 7th grade 21st Century Skills, we will begin to discover more about ourselves and others as students and future people in the work force as we explore study habits, time management, soft skills, and career development as well as studying the brain, learning styles, and overall understanding what kind of people we are. This course allows us to reflect and learn how we can grow in our study skills and understanding of technology to look ahead at a better academic career and become productive global citizens in the future.
