(updated 11/12/2020)
Hello Conewago Elementary families,
Superintendent Rob Schultz sent out a video this afternoon about our third positive COVID-19 case here at school since November 7.
If you were a close contact, you will have been notified by either the district or the state Department of Health. If you have not been notified, you are not considered to be a close contact to the infected individuals.
Based on the number of cases, we will be forced to close school and switch to remote learning starting Monday, November 16, and return to school on Tuesday, December 1. Your child’s teacher will contact you to share details about what our remote learning schedule will look like and how your child’s remote education will happen.
Tomorrow, Friday, November 13, we will follow our regular hybrid schedule. If you child has items they may need during the closure, please contact me and we will make arrangements for you to retrieve those items.
All other schools will continue their regular schedule.
You may be wondering how our closure will impact the district’s plans for returning to face-to-face instruction five days a week. As of now, we still plan to return five days a week, just starting on December 1.
Of course, the administration will continue to monitor community transmission rates and the number of elementary students testing positive. If the plans change, we understand that you need to plan for child care and we will communicate as soon as possible.
We are saddened that we’re having to close until December 1 but we need to be sure our students, staff and families are safe. Please continue to practice social distancing, mask wearing and other recommended steps to keep you and your family safe.
I look forward to seeing you all again as soon as we’re able.
