Welcome to our classroom home page!
I am thrilled to be a new member of the Lower Dauphin High School community! Originally from New York, I graduated from St. Petersburg College in St. Petersburg Florida with a B.S. in Elementary Education. Upon graduation, I moved to the Gettysburg area where I taught for six years. I continued my education at Mount St. Mary's University in Maryland where I received a Master of Education in Reading.
During the 2014-2015 school year, I am teaching Comprehension I along with Decoding I and II.
The Comprehension I classes focus on:
* Incorporating before, during and after reading strategies to improve comprehension
* Improving reading habits through independent reading of fictional and non-fictional texts
* Reflective journal writing
* Improving paraphrasing and summarizing strategies
The Decoding I and II classes focus on:
* Using phonics knowledge to improve decoding and word recognition
* Improving fluency
* Incorporating before, during and after reading strategies to improve comprehension
* Reflective journal writing
