We use Whole Body Listening from Michelle Garcia Winner's Social Thinking vocabulary as the basis for our classroom rules.
Whole Body Listening
Eyes- Look at the person who is talking.
Ears- Both ears are listening to the speaker.
Feet- Quiet and still feet that are on the floor.
Hands- Quiet and stilli hands that are either in your lap, pockets, or by your side.
Mouth- Quiet mouth (no humming or making sounds).
Body- Still body that faces the speaker
Brain - Your brain is thinking about what the speaker is saying.
Heart- Your heart cares about the speaker's words.
We also use a variety of research-based social thinking concepts and social skills as a foundation for our classroom.
