Synopsis of Curriculum
Family & Consumer Science education focuses on learning the value of balancing personal, home, family, and work life. Family & Consumer Science coursework encourages students to become responsible citizens and leaders within their family, community, and work/school settings. Sixth grade students will gain introductory knowledge of how children develop from birth through age 5 and how to be a responsible caregiver. Sixth grade students will learn the fundamentals of cooking and nutrition; including measuring ingredients, learning tools and cooking terms, preparing basic recipes, and MyPlate with the five food groups.
