Synopsis of Curriculum
Family & Consumer Science education focuses on learning the value of balancing personal, home, family, and work life. Family & Consumer Science coursework encourages students to become responsible citizens and leaders within their family, community, and work/school settings. Using goal setting and time management, 7th and 8th grade students will gain knowledge of sewing tools and equipment, sewing machine operations, and construction of a textile project. Students will continue to acquire knowledge the fundamentals of cooking and nutrition, expanding on previous comprehension of food and kitchen safety, kitchen tools, cooking terms, measuring, and recipe preparation.
