Curriculum Guide
Course Title: Music 7/8 Subject: Music Grade Level(s):7/8 Synopsis of Curriculum
Music records and tells the story of who we are as individuals, communities, societies, and cultures. Through the musical actions of Performing, Creating, and Responding, students will explore HOW music tells that story. Students will use contemporary technology and traditional musical instruments to accomplish these ends. Attempts will be made at every turn to take student backgrounds and interests into the specific pieces of music that are studied. At the conclusion of the course, students will be able to function as a responsible consumer of music who activates knowledge from multiple disciplines when choosing and evaluating how music will function in their lives. Students will leave with the resources necessary to explore their own personal musical interests even as they enter adulthood.
