Course Title: Nutrition & Wellness Subject: Family and Consumer Science Grade Level(s): 9-12Synopsis of Curriculum
The focus of this course is to understand today’s food and eating trends and learning to evaluate nutritional information to make informed decisions about food choices for a long and healthy lifestyle. Applying dietary information to food preparation skills will be stressed. Students entering dietetics, health occupations, culinary arts or those interested in life-long wellness would be candidates for this class. Pre-requisites for this one semester course would be two FCS electives that could include: Personal Development and Culinary 1 or Culinary 1 & 2.
