Dear LDMS Parents, Guardians, and Students,
It is with great honor and enthusiasm that I write this letter to introduce myself as the new Assistant Principal at Lower Dauphin Middle School. As a Lower Dauphin community member and alumni this position means more to me than just a professional change; it means I’m coming home to the district that helped to shape me into the leader and person I am today. I am truly grateful to be back in Lower Dauphin’s supportive educational environment where an engaging curriculum is implemented that prepares students for their next step in life.
I am entering my ninth year in education with my past two years of experience being an assistant principal at Central Dauphin Middle School and prior to that six years of teaching secondary special education in supplemental full time learning support and emotional support. While in these roles I earned a masters degree in Educational Development and Strategies from Wilkes University and completed my Principalship at Shippensburg University. All of my experiences have helped to develop my leadership style which starts with being present, proactive and collaborative. I am a principal who is always out in the building and engaging with staff, students, parents and guardians.
Outside of work, I am a proud mother of three children, ages 3.5, 2, and 5 months. My husband and I are avid sports fans, but being a fan I enjoy playing just about any sport. I grew up as a volleyball player and as an adult athlete got into pickleball, spikeball, tennis, and flag football. I also enjoy reading, traveling and making memories with my family.
I am committed to working alongside Mrs. Schoessler and helping each student on their own individual educational journey. In addition, I strive to make the best possible partnership between home and school as I know how vital it is for student success. If you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to contact me by calling the main office number 717-566-5310 or emailing me at kbarwin@ldsd.org.
I look forward to meeting all students and families this coming school year!
With Falcon Pride,
Mrs. Barwin
