Lower Dauphin High School is a public school serving a rural-suburban community located in Dauphin County approximately nine miles east of Harrisburg. The district offers excellent cultural, educational and recreational opportunities with its geographical proximity to Harrisburg and Hershey and its accessibility to New York, Baltimore, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. A total population of about 25,000 reside in the townships of Conewago, East Hanover, Londonderry, and South Hanover, and the borough of Hummelstown. This comprises an area of approximately 94 square miles. Eighty-two percent of students in the district receive bus transportation for educational and activity programs.

The high school faculty is composed of 125 professionals, the majority of whom hold a Master's degree. The teacher student ratio is 1:14.
The Lower Dauphin High School curriculum offers five ability levels in the four major disciplines: English, mathematics, science, social studies and four foreign languages. The five levels are designated as Career Prep (CRP), Tech Prep (TP), College Prep (CP), Honors (H) and Advanced Placement (AP). There is also a gifted curriculum which has special criteria for participation. The Lower Dauphin High School schedules a four quarter calendar year.

AP courses are available in Art History, Government & Politics, English, Calculus, Chemistry, Biology, US History, European History, Spanish, Statistics, Environmental Science, Psychology, Computer Science, Physics and World History.
The language department offers sequences in French, German, Latin and Spanish.

1%Class RankingClass rank is determined by arranging all students in order of their weighted grade point average. This average is based upon the total percentage points earned in weighted academic classes divided by the credit value of weighted academic courses taken. The weighted average is included on the transcript as a reference point.
A weighting factor is used in class rank computation. All courses ranked as General/Career Prep shall be accorded the actual grade average. Courses ranked as Tech Prep shall receive 2.5 additional percentage points to the grade average. Courses ranked as college preparatory shall receive an additional 5 percentage points to the grade average. Courses ranked as honors shall receive an additional 10 percentage points to the grade average. Courses ranked as Advanced Placement shall receive an additional 12 percentage points to the grade average. Report card grades reflect actual numerical value earned. Non-weighted classes are not included in the weighted calculations. A non-weighted grade point average is included on our transcript based on the 4.0 scale.
Graduation Credit Requirements
Students are required to earn 23.5 credits to earn a Lower Dauphin diploma.
