Course Title: Mathematics

Grade Level(s):  Kindergarten

Synopsis of Curriculum

The Kindergarten Mathematics curriculum is divided into five general areas: Counting and Cardinality; Numbers and Operations; Algebraic Concepts; Measurement, Data and Probability; and, Geometry.  Kindergarten students will learn the number names, to write and recite the numbers in sequence, and to apply a one to one correspondence to objects. The students will learn to use numbers to compare quantities.  They will also learn to add and subtract within 10.  Kindergarten students will learn to identify, describe, analyze, compare and create two and three-dimensional shapes.  The students will describe and compare the attributes of area, length, weight and capacity of everyday objects.  The students will classify objects and count the number of objects in each category.
