Students will build upon what they have done in level III. The year will start with a review of vocabulary and the passé compose. Students will be able to talk about their daily routine using reflexive verbs in the present and the past tense. Students will be able to express how they can stay in shape and if they are sick or in pain. Students will learn the imperfect tense and be able to talk about repeated actions in the past and then speak and write using the imparfait and the passé compose. Students will learn more clothing items and be able to talk about how clothing fits them, how clothing looks in a store and compare the clothing items. Students will be able to compare fashion in France and the United States. Students will be able to plan a trip. They will be able to talk about a camping trip. Students will be able to purchase airplane and train tickets. Students will review the French speaking world. Students will learn the future tense and the conditional tense to express what they will do in the future and what they would like to do or have. Students will be able to plan a future vacation and a dream vacation. Students will be able to compare driving a car in France and the United States. Students will be able to identify parts of a car in French and be able to talk about problems they might encounter while driving. Students will learn the subjunctive and be able to say what they have to do and what they want or expect themselves or others to do. Students will be able to use the indicative and subjunctive and tell the difference between them. Students will conclude the year with reading Le Petit Prince. Students will discuss the importance of looking beneath the surface to find the real truth and meaning of things.
