Synopsis of Curriculum

This course is for the high school student to prepare for the future by developing skills necessary for success in relationships. They will explore personality development and the responsibilities of being a mature person and practice communication and decision-making skills. When studying characteristics of strong families they will develop strategies for handling family challenges and the responsibilities of building positive relationships. A second component of this course is managing finances and exploring what students will need to be successful in preparing for life after high school. Topics covered include managing money, credit, insurance, creating a budget, buying a car, and types of housing and living spaces.
