Synopsis of Curriculum

This is a semester college course on World War II. In terms of content, the focus will be on its origin, nature, conclusion, and significance. This includes the political, military, diplomatic, economic, technological, social, and ideological factors of the war in the European/Atlantic, African/Mediterranean, Asian/Pacific, and American Home fronts. Focus will be on the post-WWI resentments and the rise of communism in Russia, fascism in Italy, militarism in Japan, Nazism in Germany, the global Great Depression, and American isolationism turned intervention then leadership through the end of the war.  The Holocaust, other war crimes, and the United Nations will be addressed. There will be an emphasis on WWII facts and stories, as well as WWII historiography, liberation and legacy, primary evidence, and original student research.
