Synopsis of Curriculum
You and the Law will explore the basic elements of United States’ society and how people interact with the law from a practical standpoint. Students will learn how to be actively engaged citizens in their communities through the skills and knowledge of local, regional , state, and federal government. Exploration of legal obligations, responsibilities , and citizen rights will allow students to discover why rules and laws exist.
Students will investigate the services and resources offered to citizens through electronic government resources. The course will stress a collaborative approach with the community and government, encouraging students to communicate with officials especially on the local level. Students will gain an understanding of the roles government officials play in their communities by interaction and knowledge of the system.
