    Exploratory Spanish, Middle School Spanish, and Spanish I


    Welcome to Spanish class!  My name is Mrs. Anne Masorti and I am so excited to have the opportunity to teach you about the Spanish language and culture.  I teach two 7th grade Exploratory Spanish classes, one 8th grade Middle School Spanish class, and three 8th grade high school level Spanish I classes at Lower Dauphin Middle School. The 2019-20 school year marks my 23rd year teaching at Lower Dauphin. I graduated from Lock Haven University and studied abroad at La Universidad Nacional in Heredia, Costa Rica. I have a Master of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Penn State University and am currently working towards a Master of Education degree in Learning, Design, and Technology through Penn State World Campus. In addition to teaching I help coach both the LDMS Cross Country and Track and Field teams.  

     Course goals for the Exploratory Spanish class include:

    • Listen to and understand vocabulary
    • Clearly pronounce the Spanish language
    • Communicate in simple spoken and written Spanish
    • Read simple Spanish
    • Understand and appreciate the culture and people of Spanish-speaking countries

    Course goals for the Middle School Spanish class include:

    Students completing this course are eligible to take any level I language at the high school.  Students should be prepared to actively participate.  A mid-term exam will be given at the end of the second marking period and a cumulative final exam will occur at the end of the year.  When you have successfully completed this course, you will be able to:

    • understand a simple conversation in Spanish
    • sustain a simple spoken conversation in Spanish
    • create simple original dialogues in Spanish
    • write sentences and simple compositions using correct grammatical construction
    • read the target language with basic comprehension and answer content-based questions
    • understand and appreciate the culture and people of the Spanish-speaking countries
