Welcome to Lower Dauphin Middle School Art Program
Hello! Welcome to the LDMS art room. My name is Luke Gawron, and I am one of two teachers in the middle school and you can find me in room #106. I've been teaching at LDMS since 2015, a few years after I graduated from Kutztown University. I live nearby in Palmyra with my wife and son, and enjoy creating my own artworks, camping/hiking/backpacking, cooking and taekwando. I am also currently working on a masters degree in art education at Millersville University.
The art program here at LDMS is a choice-based program, meaning students are encouraged to learn through the process of experimenting and creating. in my classroom, your student will be asked to experiment with materials, generate original ideas, develop plans to create original artworks, create them, and reflect on the final product and the journey they took to complete thier artworks. I've taken steps to create an art studio designed as a makerspace, complete with 5 different stations for different materials and for different parts of the creative process.
For more on this teaching style, please research Teaching Artistic Behaviors (or TAB).
To contact me, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Syllabus for your students individual course can be found in the art canvas course.
