Hello, my name is Amy VanHorn and I am proud to be a Londonderry teacher. I have been teaching at Londonderry for over 32 years and I LOVE  teaching second graders!  I live in Elizabethtown with my husband and my dog Wayne.  We have a 28-year-old son named Michael, and a 25-year-old daughter named Erin.

Second graders show so much growth during the school year and I feel privileged to be a part of this growth.  Second grade is a time to learn more independence and take on more responsibilities. My goal as a teacher is to help your child learn and reach these goals in an enriching and comfortable environment.  Laughing is an important element of my teaching style and I feel learning is easier and more successful if it is fun.  We plan to have lots of fun this year.

Parent-Teacher communication is also an important element for a successful year. I try to keep you informed with my "Daily Homework Sheet" and the app ClassDojo. I hope you will keep me informed as well. Please don't hesitate to share your concerns. You can contact me with a note on the Daily Homework Sheet or you can also contact me by voice mail at (717) 944-9462 (ext. 4241) or e-mail avanhorn@ldsd.org.

Thanks for visiting my website and I look forward to working with you and your child this year. Let's make this a WONDERFUL and POSITIVE experience for your child!!
