In reading, I use large and small group instruction with flexible grouping. We will focus on phonics skills, fluency, and comprehension. Students will get a chance to work with partners during Daily 5 doing a variety of activities (sight words, spelling, fluency etc). Students will always be busy, engaged and moving.
Students will work hard on their writing during our Kid Writing time! Some days students will write in response to a prompt or sentence starter. Other days they will be able to write about whatever they want!
In math, we will cover a variety of topics using hands on activities and problem solving! Also, we will use Rocket Math to memorize our addition and subtraction facts. We won't start this until December/January.
Students will have homework Monday through Thursday. Homework will consist of a reading log, a spelling activity, or a math activity. There will be a homework tracker in your child's folder each week.
