CHIP Information

There is no role that we play that is more important than that of parent. It is a rewarding position that includes ongoing responsibility and satisfaction in seeing our children grow into healthy and well rounded adults. Keeping that in mind, more of our families are seeing that their incomes do not cover health care costs and health coverage may be non existent in their employee benefits. Welfare benefits those families with lower income, but many families earnings exceed the maximum to qualify for welfare.

The CHIP program - the Children's Health Insurance Program - provides free or low cost health insurance for children. It covers the cost of immunizations, routine checkups, prescriptions and a host of other services. CHIP has been formulated for working families and over 80,000 children in Pennsylvania are enrolled.

If you would like more information regarding the CHIP program, call 1-800-986-KIDS to find out if your children qualify for the CHIP health insurance. Your school nurse also has information packets and applications available. Health care benefits our most important asset - our families. The CHIP program is raising the quality of health care in America, one child at a time.
