SPIRIT Program set for Sept 20
Lower Dauphin High School students met with facilitators from state and federal agencies to identify issues impacting their school and develop and implement solutions to resolve those issues.
The School-Student Problem Identification and Resolution of Issues Together (School-SPIRIT) program launched a full-day of meetings and discussions on Wednesday, September 20, at the high school.
Students were asked to sign-up to participate in the day-long event to help be part of the solution to enhance and improve the high school's climate.
The high school population into groups of like-minded individuals so they can discuss the unique challenges they face. Among the groups are students of color, students who identify as LGBTQ+, athletes, art/drama students, and students who identify as members of the general student body. Each group will identify problems and solutions with the assistance of a trained state or federal facilitator. The facilitators come from the US Department of Education, the US Department of Justice, the PA Attorney General's Office, PA State Police, Pennsylvania Human Rights Commission and the PA Center for Safe Schools and Communities.
