Food services in the Lower Dauphin School District are provided by an independent contractor, Chartwells, a division of the Compass Group-USA. For more information about cafeteria services in the Lower Dauphin School District, please contact Food Service Director Brad Mettle at 717-566-5353 or email bmettle@ldsd.org.

The school provides the service of a hot lunch each day. Milk is offered with every meal for 60 cents a la carte and is included in the meal price.

The cost of an elementary school lunch this year is as follows:
  • Student meal $2.60
  • Adult meals $4.10

The cost of a secondary level school lunch this year is as follows:

  • Student meal $2.80
  • Adult meals $4.10

In addition to the lunch program, we offer a breakfast program at all of the Lower Dauphin School Districts schools. All the breakfast programs are planned within the guidelines of the requirements established by the federal government and are eligible for the free and reduced program described below.

The cost of the breakfast program this year is as follows:
  • Student breakfast: FREE
The district uses a computerized account system for food purchases. It is requested that students pay for a week or more of their lunches and/or breakfasts in advance. Students are assigned PIN numbers that track purchases against their available balances. The PIN numbers and advance payments reduce the time students spend in the cafeteria line.

Meals are planned within the guidelines of the Type "A" lunch requirements established by the federal government. We encourage children to get the full value of the balanced meal by eating their complete lunch. However, we never force a child to eat everything on the plate.

Free and reduced meals are available for needy youngsters. Information on the Free & Reduced Program is sent home at the beginning of the school year and can also be found on this section of the website.

Children are permitted to bring a packed lunch if they wish. No carbonated drinks or glass containers are permitted.

Good table manners are an important part of the cafeteria program. Please review these with your child.
