Open Records/Right to Know
Right to Know requests will only be fulfilled if submitted by a person that is a legal resident of the United States.
Anonymous requests will not be fulfilled.
The Lower Dauphin School District is committed to transparency in its operations and fully complies with Pennsylvania's open records law. This law requires government agencies in the Commonwealth to provide access to and copies of public records. District policy 801 - Public Records governs the district's right-to-know procedures and practices. As part of the policy, the district has outlined the process for individuals to make a formal right-to-know request.
All open records requests to Lower Dauphin School District under the state's Right-to-Know Law must be submitted in writing to the district's Right-To-Know officer. The requester must use the standard form created by the State Office of Open records (see below). Once the request is received, the district has five (5) business days to respond to the request. The district may, at its discretion, honor verbal requests for public records in cases where access can be allowed immediately. However, a verbal request shall not be considered an official request requiring district response under Right-to-Know guidelines.
If the school district denies the request either partially or in full, the requester has the right to challenge the determination by appealing to the Pennsylvania Open Records Office (see below). To do so, the requester must file an appeal explaining the reason why you believe the the requested information is a public record with fifteen (15) business days.
