Computer Damage Costs

The chart below lists the costs associated for laptop damages that are most likely to occur. Damages determined to be "negligence" will result in the full cost of repairs.  Negligence is considered any damage that is the result failing to follow the rules set forth in the One-to-One Laptop Guidebook or any damage caused as a result of behavior that violates the Reasonable Person standard.  Whether damage is the result of an accident or negligence will be determined by administration based on guidelines established in the One-to-One Handbook and a totality of the circumstances.

Accidental Damage:
For first time damage, the cost is 25% of the full price of the part(s) as listed below, with the exception of A/C power adapters which will be charged at full cost of replacement.   The second accidental damage will be assessed at 75% of the full price of part(s) as listed below, with the exception of A/C power adapters which will be charged at full cost of replacement.  Any subsequent accidental damage will be assessed at 100% of the full price of part(s) as listed below, up to the full cost of laptop replacement.  The parent/guardian will be invoiced by the district for repair/replacement costs.  Per the One-to-One Laptop Guidebook, administration may adjust the fees charged for damage based on totality of the circumstances as well as arrange for a payment plan option.

Negligent Damage:
Damage determined to be the result of negligence will be assessed at 100% of the cost of parts up to the full cost of replacing the laptop, per the One-to-One Laptop Guidebook.  Damages will need to be paid in the exact amount through a check, or money order.  Charges that are not paid by June 30th of the school year in which the damage occurred may be sent to a collections agency.
