Lower Dauphin to offer free student breakfasts starting Monday, October 3, 2022 through the end of the 2022-2023 school year.
On Friday, September 9, Gov. Tom Wolf announced that the state will provide funding to ensure that every student in the Commonwealth could receive a free school breakfast meal this year, starting on October 1.
This change is only applicable to the School Breakfast Program in the 2022-2023 School Year and does not affect a student’s eligibility status for lunch (free, reduced, and paid, respectively).
Prior to COVID-19, Lower Dauphin cafeterias averaged 48,000 student breakfasts per year. Last year, when free breakfasts were offered by the federal government, more than 68,000 student breakfasts were served.
