APPRENTICESHIP/EMPLOYMENT INFORMATION

GENERAL INFORMATION 

  1. Selective Service: Male students must register with the Selective Service System within 30 days of reaching their 18th birthday. Register at www.sss.gov
  2. Shield Driving: Attention sophomores Learn the fundamentals of safe driving at your convenience with your own computer. To register for the FREE 30 hour program, go to Shield's website, www.shielddriving.com and click on the "Online Course" tab and register as a Lower Dauphin Student. Shield Information Flyer

HIGHER EDUCATION (COLLEGE) & MILITARY RELATED INFORMATION: 

  1. College Fairs: Central Dauphin High School will host their biennial college fair on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 from 6-8pm. 
  2. College Representative Visits:  Attention juniors and seniors Meeting with a college admissions representative can provide a wealth of information on their academic program, admission process, tuition criteria and campus life. To search for and register for a visit, login to Naviance. Please request teacher permission before attending the event.
  3. FAFSA Workshop: To learn how to complete the FAFSA or attend a free FAFSA Completion Help Event (Oct-April), sponsored by PHEAA and PASFAA, visit PHEAA's Website. A list of ducuments/information that families need to complete the FAFSA form can be found HERE.
  4. Lower Dauphin HS FAFS Night - This will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 from 7-8:80PM in the LDHS Library. This is directed to senior parents. 
  5. Lower Dauphin HS Financial Aid Night - This will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 from 7-8:30PM in the LDHS Library. Parents and students will learn about the types of financial aid available to help pay for college or career school.
  6. Military Recruiters: Recruiters routinely schedule HS lunch visits to highlight career possibilities. Visits in 2020-21: TBD
  7. PHEAA Financial Aid Webinar for Students and Parents: TBD  

SCHOLARSHIPS

Seniors - Routinely check Naviance or contact Mrs. Schwartz to learn more about how to apply. Applications being submitted to the Counseling Office must be turned in no later than 2:30 PM the day of the deadline. Applications will not be processed on weekends. Current postings include:

  1. ACT: Future testing dates include Saturday, September 12, 2020, Saturday, December 12, 2020 and Saturday, April 17, 2021
  2. ADVANCED PLACEMENT (AP): 
  3. ARMED SERVICE VOCATIONAL APTITUDE BATTERY (ASVAB): The exam is scheduled for Thursday, October 29, 2020.  
  4. PSAT: The test, available to Lower Dauphin High School students only, is scheduled for Saturday, October 17, 2020. To register, Click Here
  5. SAT PREP COURSE: This is a 6-week course with classes taking on either Wednesday evenings or Saturday mornings. Classes being the week of September 13, 2020. To register, Click Here
  6. SAT: The Saturday, August 29, 2020 test has been cancelled. Contact College Board for other testing options. Future testing dates include Saturday, November 7, 2020, Saturday, March 13, 2021 and Saturday, June 5, 2021. Registration information is available at www.sat.org/register
